ASU Sailing Club Starts Season The Arizona State University Sailing Club has competed in its first intercollegiate regatta of the season, hosted by UCLA and sailed in Marina del Rey. Five members of the ASU Sailing Club competed. Brian Page, Aidan Windebank, Katy Foretich, Erman Sefer, and Aysun Demircan represented ASU at the regatta. This Feb.9 and 10 regatta had about 20 boats competing from nine different colleges. The Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Sailing Conference President Danielle Richardson sent out a note in an e-mail saying she hopes that the ASU Sailing Club “will be a regular fixture on the race course in the near future.” ASU's next intercollegiate regatta will be in Santa Barbara on March 29 and 30. The mission of the ASU Sailing Club is to promote sailing and sailing education for people of all abilities within the greater ASU community and to develop personal leadership skills and team building skills through the sport of sailing for everyone, regardless of ability. The ASU Sailing Club primarily sails on Tempe Town Lake in the club’s FJ sailboats and on the California coast for intercollegiate competitions.
